Here’s the message of a lawyer to Hidilyn Diaz over her funding problem
HIDILYN DIAZ – A lawyer questioned the Olympic gold medalist after the weightlifter shared that she is experiencing financial problems again ahead of the Paris Olympics.
In his Facebook post, Atty. Nick Nañgit claimed that Hidilyn earned a lot of money when she won the first gold for the Philippines.
It can be recalled that it was during the 2020 Summer Olympics when Hidilyn took home a gold medal in the 55-kilogram weightlifting. It was the first time for the country since joining the Olympics.
The lawyer couldn’t stop asking how come Hidilyn had a problem with her funds, considering she earned more than 31 million in rewards.
“Ang dami mo nang tinanggap na hindi kikitain ng pangkaraniwang mamamayan, tapos may problema ka pa rin sa pondo? Saan napunta ang kaperahan mo, at ano ba pinagkakagastusan mo? Kulang pa ba ang suportang pinansiyal na ibinibigay ng pamahalaan sa iyong training?” the lawyer said.
The lawyer said that Hidilyn Diaz should have talked to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) first before publicizing her problem.
It was just recently when Hidilyn admitted that she thought of donating a portion of her winnings ahead of the upcoming Paris Olympics. However, she considered what will happen to her career after doing so.
“Iniisip kasi ng iba, ‘oo nga nanalo ka na ng gold. ‘Yung napanalunan mo ‘yun ang gagastusin mo.’ Pero siyempre pa’no ka makakapag-ipon para sa sarili mo, after ng career mo, paano na lang? Hindi siya sustainable kung ‘yung ipinanalo ko ang gagastusin ko,” aniya.
Hidilyn has yet to respond to netizens’ opinions about her financial problems.

Atty what are you talking? That’s none of your business where Hidilyn moneys went. Why would Hidilyn use her winning purse to support her needs joining or reperesenting again for the Olympic. Its not her problem it should be the PSC’s responsibility to support her.
