Batangas Electric Cooperative 1 will now investigate the case of a consumer who reported a tripling in their electricity bill.

According to Ordiales, an electrician from the Nasugbu branch of the power distributor inspected their house after they reported the incident, but the case has yet to be resolved.

Alvin Velasco, general manager of BATELEC 1 said that electric meters can be adjusted if there is a reading problem; however, it must be brought to their office.

“Nai-a-adjust naman po ‘yun pag may pagkakamali sa mismong reading, sa pagkakabit ng linya. [Pag] grounded nai-a-adjust naman po iyon,” Velasco said.

“Patitingnan ko po. Handa po kaming makinig diyan,” he added.

This is not the first time this year that such an incident happened.

A family in Pangasinan was shocked when they received their electric bill for the month of August amounting to P1.4 million.

A certain Menchie Marayag Antonio took to social media wherein she posted their bill from the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (CENPELCO).

Apparently, based on the reading, their electricity bill is P1,472,973.

It is said to be from their usual monthly bill of P1,500.

Meanwhile, the formulas you will need to know to manually calculate your electricity bill are: Watts = (amps) x (volts) Kilowatt-hours = (watts) x (usage) / 1000. Cost = (kilowatt-hours) x (electricity rate).
