In a statement obtained by allkpop, the music label said that BTS member Jin will initiate the process as soon as his schedule for his solo release is concluded at the end of October this year and will then follow the enlistment procedure of the Military Manpower Administration.

Also, other members of the group will perform mandatory military service sequentially according to their plans.

Both the company and the members of BTS are looking forward to reconvening as a group again around 2025 following their service commitment,” the music label said in a statement.

To recall, Jin was permitted by South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to postpone his enlistment in accordance with the Military Service Act amended in 2020, and his enlistment had been postponed until the end of 2022.

As he applied to cancel his “postponing enlistment until the age of 30” extension, Jin is expected to enlist as an active duty soldier as soon as a notice of enlistment is issued to him.

Based on a report, the current Military Service Act stipulated that persons with special skills in the fields of arts and sports prescribed by Presidential Decree and recommended by South Korea’s Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism may be given an extension or exemption from service.

The enforcement ordinance of the Military Service Act, however, doesn’t include “popular culture” as a specialty in the field of arts and sports. With this, the issue of whether pop culture figures who promoted national prestige can also receive this benefit had been raised.
