Shopee is a Singaporean multinational technology company that specializes in e-commerce.

Shopee, a subsidiary of Sea Limited, was founded in Singapore in 2015 and later expanded its operations internationally.

With 343 million monthly visitors as of 2021, it is widely regarded as the largest e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia.

The company also serves consumers and sellers in several countries in East Asia (Taiwan), Latin America, and Europe (Poland) who wish to purchase and sell their goods online.

Earlier, netizens call on to boycott the online shopping giant after deciding to downsize its employees.

As a result, a lot decided to uninstall their app and delete their Shopee account and one of which is veteran actor Jaime Fabregas.

Amid the backlash that the online shopping giant is receiving, actress Aiko Melendez took to social media wherein she defended Toni Gonzaga.

According to her, the company is responsible for employee retrenchment, not the new endorser.

She’s also hoping that Shopee would hire back their retrenched employees once they get back on track.

Here’s the message of Aiko Melendez on Toni Gonzaga amid the Shopee issue:

Meanwhile, Toni is thankful for the opportunity given to her as the newest brand ambassadress of Shopee.

Shopee has yet to issue an official statement regarding the negative comments they are receiving.
