The name of the professional volleyball player resurfaced following the controversial birthday greeting of beauty queen Francesca Taruc to her boyfriend.

Dy is currently in a relationship with Filipino-American basketball player Dwight Ramos.

On Friday, September 2, Ramos celebrated his birthday.

Kim Kianna Dy even went to the social media platform, Instagram wherein she posted her birthday greeting to her boyfriend.

Unexpectedly, Taruc also posted a birthday greeting to Ramos.

In what appears to be deleted comments, she first wrote: “Socorro Angeles GILAS PILIPINAS SIYA, BINIBINING PILIPINAS AKO. hmmmm coincidence? hahahaha.”

She then responded to Angeles, telling her: “ate binati ko lang eh (emojis).”

The latter replied: “hahaha bagay pa din (laughing emoji)”

In the end, Francesca Taruc wrote: “24 years old siya today, 24 ako. Binibini 24 ako, Player #24 siya. Wala akong sinasabing coincidence ate ha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.”

Netizens flooded her post mentioning the name of Kim Kianna Dy, also known as KKD.

But who is Kim Kianna Dy?

Dy is a 27-year-old professional volleyball player.

She participated in the UAAP Girls Division for the DLSZ Junior Archers throughout her time in high school.

She won three UAAP volleyball championships from Season 73 to 75 as a high school player, earning her the UAAP Girls Division Most Valuable Player award in Season 73 and the Best Blocker award in Seasons 74 and 75.

Dy attended De La Salle University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management there. She was a member of the university’s women’s volleyball team at the time.

She won the regional title in 2012 with NCR Team for Palarong Pambansa.

Dy participated in the Philippine Super Liga in 2015 for the Meralco Power Spikers and the Shopinas.com Lady Clickers.

She was a part of the Philippine women’s national volleyball team, which finished 12th out of 14 nations in the 2015 Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship.

After defeating Ateneo to win the UAAP Season 78 championship, Dy got her first collegiate-level honor that year—Most Valuable Player (Finals)—in 2016.

Dy won the 2017 PSL Grand Prix Conference title with F2 Logistics Cargo Movers and received the Second Best Opposite Spiker award.
