Here’s the reaction of Kiko Pangilinan on the statement of Agriculture exec wherein he blamed farmers for the oversupply of vegetables
KIKO PANGILINAN – The former senator and defeated vice presidential candidate expressed dismay at the controversial statement of Department of Agriculture Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban.
It was just recently when Panganiban blamed farmers for the oversupply of vegetables in the market.
The official explained that the farmers are just planting crops even though they are not sure if what they are planting is in demand in the market by the time they were harvested.
“It has been happening for the last four or five years. Ang una wala tayong value chain na activity na nangyayari after harvest eh. Ang mga magsasaka natin kapag umani ng gulay, pinagbibili lang nila sa kanilang local market,” he said.
“Walang mamimili sa kanila pagdating sa Manila or dalhin sa Pangasinan o dalhin sa Quezon City o kahit saan dito sa Kalakhang Maynila,” he added.
His statement earned reactions from ordinary citizens like farmers up to the elite members of society.
Recently, former Senator Kiko Pangilinan took to social media wherein he gave his reaction to the statement of Panganiban.
“Huh? Ano daw?” the former senator said.
It can be recalled that one of the plans of Pangilinan before if ever he won as vice president is to lead the Department of Agriculture in order to help the farmers.
However, it did not come true after he was defeated by his rival, Vice President Sara Duterte, who’s currently the secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd).
