Deniece’s lawyers, Howard Calleja and Maria Concepcion Claire Jennifer J. Aquino filed the three-page petition on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Taguig City’s Regional Trial Court Branch 69.

Vhong is currently being detained at the National Bureau of Investigation-Security and Management Section (NBI-SMS) after surrendering to the agency when the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 69 issued an arrest warrant in connection with Deniece’s r*pe case. A case like this is not bailable.

Prior to the issuance of his r*pe case, the Metropolitan Trial Court, Branch 116 issued an arrest warrant in connection with the acts of lasciviousness filed by Cornejo’s camp.

The petition also states that in a non-bailable r*pe case, the arresting officer will immediately transport the accused to a nearby police station or jail.

“Furthermore, the only persons who may be detained at the NBI are those arrested for in flagrant delicto,” the petition added.

“Flagrant delicto” refers to crimes caught in the act, particularly sexual assaults.

According to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology’s rules and procedures, an accused must be detained in the location where the warrant was issued.

The camp of Vhong Navarro has yet to comment on the matter.

On the other hand, Deniece Cornejo has been evasive with the press in giving a word regarding the case.
