SUV ran over a 3-year-old girl
VEHICULAR ACCIDENT – A three-year-old girl died after she was run over by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) in Parañaque City driven by a 68-year-old driver.
The girl went outside to look for her older brother along with her sibling.
While walking, an SUV immediately turned left and accidentally ran over the victim. The other toddler was also injured.
The SUV continued because the driver did not know that he had run over someone.
“Sabi ko, ‘boss may nasagasaan kang bata, akin na yung susi mo.’ Eh ayaw ibigay. Hindi ko nakita na may bata, ‘yun ang sabi niya,” John Bert Lopez, the witness said.
“Pero imposible na hindi niya nakita ‘yun, kasi andito pa lang sa humps dapat nakita niya ‘yon,” he added.
According to the victim’s father Raymond Sampang, a construction worker, he went to work and left the care of his daughter to her siblings aged 11 and 12.
“Kung alam ko lang na mangyayari yun, hindi na sana ako nagtrabaho ng araw na ‘yun,” he said.
The victim’s mother is an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who just returned to the country.
She has yet to see her child because she’s still under quarantine.
Sampang said that the driver who ran over his child did not give any financial help.
The suspect who is yet to give any statement regarding the incident is now facing complaints of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and injury.
