What does Director Jay Altarejos have to say about Maid in Malacañang and Katips?
JAY ALTAREJOS – The internationally acclaimed director tagged the controversial films, Maid in Malacañang and Katips as “basura.”
Katips is a musical drama film written and directed by Vincent M. Tañada.
It is about a group of student activists from the Katipunan area of Quezon City who struggled to protest the imposition of nationwide martial law in the 1970s.
The film stars Jerome Ponce, Vince Tañada, Mon Confiado, Sazchna Laparan, Nicole Laurel Asensio and to name a few.
On the other hand, Maid in Malacañang is a movie about the last 72 hours of the Marcos family in the Palace.
It stars Cesar Montano as former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., Diego Loyzaga as President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Cristine Reyes as Senator Imee Marcos, and Ruffa Gutierrez as Imelda Romualdez Marcos and Ella Cruz as Irene Marcos.
While those who will portray as house helpers of the Marcos family are Elizabeth Oropesa as Yaya Lucy, Beverly Salviejo as Yaya Biday, and Karla Estrada as Yaya Santa. The movie is directed by controversial director, Darryl Yap.
The two controversial films aired in theaters on August 3.
But according to director Jay Altarejos, the two films are “basura.”
He claimed that the two movies were just only after money and are unlikely for the Filipino people.
He also said that he will not watch MiM and Katips because the two films are “basura” or garbage.
