DSWD Says No More Walk-ins During Distribution Of Educational Assistance

DSWD: “Kasi pag nag-walk in po magkakaproblema na naman po tayo.”

DSWD — The Department of Social Welfare and Development said that it will no longer be accepting walk-ins during the distribution of educational assistance to indigent students in order to prevent crowding at the payout sites.

DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo

On Wednesday, DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo was asked if the agency will still be accepting walk-ins.

No. Kasi pag nag-walk in po magkakaproblema na naman po tayo. ‘Yun po ang mahigpit na instruction, this will be the difference,” he said during a press conference.

Tulfo also advised those who wanted to receive the educational assistance to register through this link or e-mail them at [email protected]. The applicants can also visit the website and social media accounts of the Department of Social Welfare and Development for other details.

The DSWD Secretary added that those who wanted to receive the educational assistance can also register via QR code or send them a text message if they’re not using a smartphone and they will answer them.

He also said that there’s no more reason to say they didn’t have a cellphone as their children had online class last year so they can ask them for help in the registration.

Tulfo expressed belief that the glitch in the payout system last August 20 was a blessing in disguise as the agency forced them to use a digital system.

According to him, the applicants will receive a text message from the agency on when they should go to the payout sites, which will be identified by the local government units (LGUs). He also said that the beneficiaries will be called in “alphabetical order”.

Pipiliin namin alphabetical, siguro this coming Saturday ‘yung mga apelyido na nagsisimula sa letrang A hanggang F so ‘yun muna ang ia-accommodate natin for this coming Saturday, nationwide ‘yun,” Tulfo said.
