Vico Sotto revealed he has no social media handler
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto talked about his social media posts that often become viral topics online.
Mayor Vico is one of the politicians who have millions of followers on different social media platforms. Most of the time, if not always, his social media posts would catch the attention of many netizens.
In many instances, his posts become trending topics online. The young mayor was asked about this in a recent YouTube interview by talent manager-vlogger Ogie Diaz.
Mayor Vico Sotto said that he has no social media handler and he is really the one posting on his Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. On the other hand, there were just people who can access his account if ever he would be “lockout.” However, these people do not post and check his accounts.
The reason behind his choice to handle all his social media accounts came from his desire to be authentic. He is not trying to show a certain image to the public that is not really him.
“Para sa akin ‘yung authenticity– nothing beats authenticity. ‘Yung nakikita mo, kung ano ‘yung nandun, ‘yun talaga ako. So walang pagpapanggap ‘yun, walang pagkukunwari, walang imaging-imaging ‘yan basta ako ‘yan. Kung gusto n’yo, gusto n’yo. Kung ayaw n’yo sorry. Ako talaga ‘yan,” the Pasig City Mayor said.
However, the mayor pointed out one common problem on social media and it is about people who would share posts that seemed to be coming from him.
He also mentioned that there were instances when quotes attributed to him go viral but in reality, he has not said those words. With this, he and his team are reporting those kinds of posts.
Mayor Vico Sotto also said that at this moment, some people lack digital literacy because there were posts with thousand of like with his photo and supposed quotes from him but were just created by other people without checking the authenticity of those.
