The faith of Mark Herras was put to test
Kapuso actor Mark Herras admitted that the consecutive death of his loved ones made him question the Supreme Being but he realized the purpose of this later on.
Mark found his big break in showbiz when he was hailed as the first-ever Ultimate Male Survivor of Kapuso talent search StarStruck. From that stint, he was given opportunities that boosted his career in showbiz.
Behind the success he has when it comes to his career, Mark admitted that he almost gave up showbiz. It was when members of his family bid farewell, based on the article in Inquirer.
“Namatay ‘yung lola ko, then my dad, then my mom, then my tito — sunod-sunod sila. 2011 si lola, 2014 is my dad, after two years my mom, then after six months my tito,” Mark Herras said. He said that there was no enough time for him to grieve because another death came even before he was able to move on.
Because of this, his mental health was compromised. Mark said when people would ask him before why he wanted to enter showbiz, his answer was to help his family financially. However, when he was losing his loved ones, he was also losing his drive to continue.
“Nung nawala ‘yung core na pamilya ko, wala na. Parang nawalan ako ng direksyon sa buhay, kung ano pang dapat kong gawin,” the Kapuso actor said.
Fortunately, that situation changed and it was when his wife Nicole Donesa and their son Corky came into his life. That was the time also when Mark Herras realized why he had to say goodbye to his family members.
“Before lagi kong tinatanong na, ‘Why God? Ano po bang plano Niyo sa ‘kin?’ Nung time na ‘yun kino-kontra ko na, ‘Parang mali, hindi Niyo dapat sila kinuha sa ‘kin’ pero ngayon ito pala ‘yung purpose,” he said. “Para matuto ako sa buhay, to be a responsible father sa anak ko and to be a better partner sa wife ko,” he said.
