Sen. Imee Marcos Speaks on Mom Imelda’s 93rd Birthday Celebration

IMEE MARCOS – The Senator defended the birthday celebration of her mom, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, at Malacañang.

The Marcoses are among the most popular people in the Philippine political arena. The late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. ruled the country for around two (2) decades. Nearly 40 years since he was ousted and his family was exiled to Hawaii, his son, Pres. Bongbong Marcos, won the presidency.

Former First Lady Imelda Marcos who is now 93 years old witnessed two (2) presidential inaugurations of her family members – her late husband and her son’s oath-taking for the presidency.

A few days after Pres. Bongbong Marcos took his oath as the 17th president of the Republic of the Philippines, former First Lady Imelda Marcos celebrated her 93rd birthday. It was reportedly held in a hall at Malacañang.

Amid different reactions towards the 93rd birthday celebration of former First Lady Imelda Marcos at Malacañang, her eldest daughter, Senator Imee Marcos, defended the event saying it was ‘not a party’.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Sen. Marcos stressed that it was a “simple” get-together with family and friends. According to her, the musical and arts scholars of her mother were also present as they prepared a small recital for the former First Lady which pleased her.

Sen. Imee Marcos expressed that it was a “small merienda” that was held for the 93rd birthday celebration of former First Lady Imelda Marcos. According to her, no public funds were used in the gathering as “everyone brought food” and there are products that were for free.

“Bawal ba yun? Di ko alam. Kasi nagbi-birthday party rin ako nung bata ako doon eh. Bawal ba yun?” the Senator said.
