This, after Jayvee Ayen the Batch 2022 Top 1 and magna cum laude graduate of CSPC had been accused of plagiarizing the valedictory speech of Mariyela Mari Gonzales Hugo.

It was in the year 2019 when Mariyela caught social media attention thanks to her unique valedictory address titled “Lang.”

She graduated from Far Eastern University (FEU) last July 2019, taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education, Major in English as cum laude.

On July 12, a TikTok user (@keiadreyes) went to the video-sharing platform wherein she uploaded a 1:48-minute video featuring the graduation speech of the two Latin honorees.

Many netizens noticed the similarity in their speech.

The uploader noted in the caption: “A magna cum laude who can’t write his own speech. Hindi ‘to basta basta “lang” nakakahiya.”

The uploader then called on the Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges to do something about it.

Eventually, the school released an official statement.

Here’s the official statement of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges:

According to their statement released on Wednesday via Facebook, the valedictory address of Jayvee has been a hot topic on social media in the past few days.

The institution apologized for the “carefree attitude” of Jayvee who doesn’t have an intention to copy the idea and style of Mariyela’s speech without giving her recognition.

They also apologized to the people and groups affected by the issue.

In the last part of their statement, the school is hoping to let the issue pass and allow Jayvee to continue the next chapter of his life after graduating from college.
