An emotional PNP OIC Gen. Vicente Danao expressed his gratitude for President Duterte

PLTGEN. VICENTE DANAO – The officer-in-charge (OIC) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) burst into tears while thanking outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte.

Danao is the current Officer in Charge of the Philippine National Police.

He has been with the Philippine National Police for over 29 years. His longest term as police chief was between October 2013 and June 2016 in Davao City.

He also served as Chief of the National Capital Region Police Office from 2020 until 2022.

Aside from that, he served as the deputy director for operations of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, as task force commander under the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs.

In an interview with SMNI, Danao couldn’t hold back his emotions as he thanked the outgoing president.

President Rodrigo Duterte, the 16th chief executive of the Republic of the Philippines, will vacate his post this coming June 30.

“Unang-una po para sa aking pinaka-tatay…. Maraming maraming salamat po ‘Tay,” he said in tears.

He also thanked the president for guiding him.

Danao is known to be “astigin” which is why netizens were shocked when he cried. The general is one of the closest to President Duterte.

Meanwhile, some netizens couldn’t help but get emotional with the statement of Danao.

“Kapag tunay na lalaki ang umiyak, surely it comes from the heart, walang halong drama. Snappy salute Sir PRRD,” said a certain Alejandro Bayer.

President Duterte has yet to issue any statement regarding the sweet gesture of the PNP acting chief.
