The President on Monday night expressed his gratitude to all his former and current Cabinet members for helping him run the Philippines over the past 6 years.

According to Acting Cabinet Secretary Melvin Matibag, members of all Cabinet clusters reported their accomplishments to President Duterte, just like what was being reported during the “Duterte Legacy Summit” at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

Matibag said in a press briefing that the full Cabinet meeting is the “last Cabinet meeting” of the Duterte administration, “but it does not mean we will stop working after that.”

He added that President Duterte treated the former and current Cabinet secretaries, including their spouses, to a dinner before “rendering songs” and delivering a “relaxing tribute” for them.

Moreover, Matibag quoted the President as saying that he wasn’t wrong in choosing them to become part of his Cabinet as they really did their job.

I repeatedly heard him (President Duterte) saying na ‘hindi ako nagkamali sa mga pinili ko na miyembro ng gabinete na ginawa talaga ang trabaho,’” Matibag said.

Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, for his part, described the President as “upbeat” from last night when the President expressed gratitude to former and current Cabinet officials.

According to him, the President looks forward to his retirement in Davao City and spending more time with his family and grandchildren.

He added that the President didn’t mention if he would still deliver his weekly “Talk To The People” public briefing with one month left in the office, but the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) is ready to deliver words from the President.
