As Duterte’s term comes to an end, “Salamat PRRD” banners and tarpaulins have spread to various places in the country.

In fact, there were some groups who are planning to hold a concert to show their gratitude to the outgoing president.

But Fortun, a forensic pathologist – a medical examiner who determines the cause of death of a deceased person, seemed to dislike the public’s tribute to PRRD.

“Cringe fest. Roads littered with “Salamat PRRD”,” she tweeted.

A netizen commented on her post accusing the government of allegedly using the public funds for the Salamat PRRD campaign.

“Waste of public funds in the midst of poverty & hunger,” wrote @jmschumey.

Meanwhile, some supporters of PRRD defended the outgoing president against the remark of Fortun.

According to a certain MJ Quiambao Reyes, the Salamat PRRD banners here and abroad were initiated and printed by ordinary people (supporters of Duterte) and not from the public funds.

The Palace has yet to issue any statement regarding the remarks of Fortun against PRRD.

This is not the first time Fortun criticized Duterte.

It can be recalled that Duterte was supposed to run for senator as a substitute candidate for Liezl Visorde of PDDS (Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan) while his longtime aide, Senator Bong Go was initially rooting for the highest position in the Philippine government.

However, they decided to withdraw their bid.

Fortun criticized them by saying: “Ay salamat nabawasan ng pangait ang mga tatakbo.”

Duterte’s term as the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines is bound to end on June 30. President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., the son of late ex-President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and former first lady Imelda Marcos, will take over his post.
