Teachers’ Group Speaks on the Next DepEd Secretary

TEACHERS’ GROUP – Teacher’s Dignity Coalition wants the next secretary of the Department of Education to come from DepEd.

The Elections 2022 are over and former Senator Bongbong Marcos is leading the presidential race as per the partial and unofficial results posted by the Commission on Elections (Comelec). A manual counting of the election returns by the PPCRV is currently ongoing.

Marcos Jr. leads the presidential race with a huge gap from the votes of his closest rival, Vice President Leni Robredo. The lead is more than 16 million votes as per the partial and unofficial results.

Recently, the camp of Marcos Jr. has declared victory over the Elections 2022 saying 98% of the votes has been counted and he leads by 16 million votes. The Partido Federal ng Pilipinas standard-bearer has expressed his gratitude to the 31 million Filipinos who voted for him.

Marcos Jr. also revealed that he is appointing presumptive Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio to head the education department. The presidential race frontrunner expressed that Mayor Duterte agreed to it.

The statement of Marcos Jr. gained different reactions from the people. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, teachers’ group Teacher’s Dignity Coalition wants the next education secretary to come from DepEd.

Teachers’ Dignity Coalition chairman Benjo Basas said that their members are talking about the plan of the presumptive president to place the presumptive vice president as the education secretary. Meanwhile, the teachers’ group expressed willingness for dialogue in case it will be pushed through.

Duterte-Carpio has yet to speak on becoming the secretary of the education department under the Marcos administration. During the campaign period, the presidential daughter is vocal about making military service mandatory for those who are 18 years old and above.
