In a statement, the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) confirmed the passing of the senior citizen after casting his vote on Monday, May 9, 2022, at the Tejero Elementary School.

According to Councilor Joel Garganera, the deputy chief implementor of the EOC, the senior citizen identified as Amado Juera Ganzo cast his vote past 4 p.m. in his precinct in Barangay Tinago.

However, Ganzo experienced dizziness and collapsed.

An emergency response team rushed to the voting center but the senior citizen was declared dead on arrival.

Due to the heat and the long lines experienced by voters inside voting centers, fainting and other minor incidents have been recorded.

Fortunately, no voter was isolated in the quarantine voting centers. According to the EOC, it was good news.

The deputy chief implementor of the EOC said that a spike in COVID-19 cases is less likely to happen after the elections even if millions flocked to voting centers.

Meanwhile, presidential frontrunner Bongbong Marcos is still leading the race with 30,949,373 votes.

For vice president, Sara Duterte leads with 31,383,834 votes.
