RoRo stands for roll-on / roll-off which means it’s a vessel that has been designed to carry wheeled cargo such as cars, vans, trailers, busses, and trucks.

What makes the RoRo different from the majority of other ships used to carry cargo is that it doesn’t need to rely on cranes. Instead, the vehicles it carries can simply be driven on and off the ship via a ramp.

Today, some of us might have been on a RoRo vessel whether as a passenger, vacationers, or truck drivers and to name a few.

Apparently, a call center agent traveling to Bacolod fell off from a RoRo vessel just recently.

Michael John Balsomo, a resident of Balicotoc in Ilog, Negros Occidental was on board a RoRo vessel when he decided to get some fresh air.

However, he fell beyond the railings and fell into the sea.

Balsomo was floating in the middle of the sea for approximately five (5) hours.

Fortunately, fishermen at Polo Bilo, which is approximately 10 kilometers from the shoreline of Barangay Punta Taytay, spotted him.

After he was rescued, he was brought to the barangay hall wherein he was given medical assistance.

Meanwhile, the incident reminds us that accidents might happen anytime, whether you are in the comfort of your homes or traveling.
