The coronation night of MUPH 2022 was held on April 30, 2022, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Bay City, Pasay Metro Manila. It is arguable the most star-studded coronation night the country ever had.
The beauty pageant featured performances by Bamboo, Francisco Martin, Sam Concepcion, Morissette Amon, Jim Bales, and Arthur Nery. Miss Universe winners Pia Wurtzbach, Demi-Leigh Tebow, and Iris Mittenaere took the stage as hosts.
Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu helped in choosing the new Miss Universe Philippines as one of the judges. Fil-Aussie beauty queen Catriona Gray was also featured in a video shown right before the winners were announced.
Cebuana beauty queen Bea Luigi Gomez crowned Celeste Cortesi of Pasay as her successor at the end of the event. The Fil-Italian will represent the country at the Miss Universe 2022 pageant.
Recently, Bea dedicated a heartfelt message to her successor. She told her that she’s already proud of her and expressed her confidence that Cortesi will perform her MUPH duties greatly.
“To our dearest @celeste_cortesi, we are tremendously proud of you already! The heavens indeed blessed you to be our Miss Universe Philippines 2022 and without a doubt you will do great in representing our country at the 71st Miss Universe.”
“Always know that when the crown gets too heavy to bear, WE GOT YOU! Ti vogliamo bene, Queen,” she added.
Celeste Cortesi first made her presence known in the local pageant scene through the Miss Earth Philippines 2018 competition. She grew up in Italy and moved to the Philippines to pursue pageantry.
