UP is currently making a buzz online. This, after some students of the prestigious state university earlier, held a protest, amid the release of partial-unofficial results of the May 9 elections as Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. lead the presidential race.

Then, the UP Office of the Student Regent called on the students to walk out of their classes once Marcos Jr. takes over as the newest President of the Republic of the Philippines.

Amid the criticism that the state university is receiving, a fan account of Baste Duterte, the presidential son and elected mayor of Davao City, wants to rename the said university.

The fan account of Baste Duterte wants to shut down UP and convert it to BPU or Bagong Pilipinas University where CAT/ROTC is mandatory.

“Can someone help create a page where we sign a petition to shut down the University of the Philippines?” the fan account said.

“Then convert them to BPU or Bagong Pilipinas University where CAT/ROTC is mandatory,” it added.

But some netizens were not in favor of the suggestion of the fan account.

“Try nyo magUPCAT. Bitter lang kayo sa Pinakamahusay na Pamantasan sa Pilipinas!” said Jonathan S. Oraño.

“Lumalabas talaga pagkafanatic ah hahahahaha,” Jeany Mae Zaragoza commented.

“T*nga ka at walang utak,” Julianne Marie noted.

Meanwhile, controversial religious leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is also in favor of shutting down the University of the Philippines (UP) and removing its subsidy from the government.
