Malacañang Palace Speaks on Quarantine Measure in Metro Manila
MALACAÑANG – The Palace announced the alert level to be implemented in Metro Manila starting April 16 until April 30.
It was more than two (2) years ago when the COVID-19 virus spread across the globe. Declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) a pandemic, the virus urged several nations to be under “new normal”.
The COVID-19 pandemic has shaken several healthcare systems in different nations. It led to the loss of lives, a drop in the economy, and the struggles down to the household level.
In the Philippines, several businesses had no choice but to temporarily close. They only incurred losses amid the restrictions in the pursuit to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Community quarantine measures are implemented by the government to curb the spread of the virus. It depends on the cases in a certain area. People are also urged to wear face masks when going outdoors.
Currently, most students are still under blended learning. They get their lessons through modules and online classes. Meanwhile, the decrease in the daily recorded COVID-19 cases in the country paved the way for the resumption of face-to-face classes in low-risk areas.
The community quarantine measures in different areas were also eased by Malacañang and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) against COVID-19 amid the decreasing cases of the virus in the country. A lot of areas in PH now are under Alert Level 1 which is the loosest measure.
Recently, Malacañang announced the quarantine measure in Metro Manila from April 16-30. Based on a post of Inquirer, the Palace announced that Metro Manila will remain under Alert Level 1.
Previously, there were proposals for Alert Level 0 but President Rodrigo Roa Duterte rejected them. The President said that Alert Level 1 is a “good buffer” as there are still COVID-19 cases in the country.
