Duterte Reveals Decision on Proposal for “Alert Level 0”

Pres. Duterte Speaks on Proposal to Place Some Areas under Alert Level 0

DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte revealed his decision on proposal to put some areas under Alert Level 0.

It is more than two (2) years ago when the COVID-19 pandemic started shaking the healthcare system of several countries across the globe including the Philippines. The pandemic cost a lot of lives and urged the people to live under a “new normal” setting.

In the Philippines, community quarantine measures are up since the pandemic started. Strict restrictions were implemented amid increasing cases of coronavirus in the country.

There were several instances when the daily recorded cases dropped and then rose again after a few weeks. The most recent spike recorded in PH was after the holiday season and amid the threat of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

The cases have peaked in February and started to drop. Following the decrease in the daily recorded cases of COVID-19 in PH, the government loosened the quarantine measures in several areas. Many cities and provinces now are under Alert Level 1 which is the loosest measure.

Amid the dropping of the COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, there are calls to place some areas under Alert Level 0. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte recently announced his decision on the proposal.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Duterte rejected the proposal to place some areas in the country under Alert Level 0. He stressed that there are still areas with COVID-19 cases and most areas remain under Alert Level 1 until such time that there are only one or two cases. He tagged Alert Level 1 as a “good buffer” amid the situation now.

“Huwag na muna tanggalin natin ‘yan unless we really sure that everything is really alright especially sa ating lugar,” the President said.
