Sara Duterte to Bongbong Marcos: “I hope you missed me like I missed you.”

SARA DUTERTE — On Tuesday night, the vice-presidential candidate told her running mate, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr, to his face that she “missed” him.

The Davao City mayor, who is also the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) chairperson, did so while in front of hundreds of local chief executives during the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) 2022 general assembly at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City.

Mayor Sara delivered a speech at the event where she batted for the income reclassification of LGUs (local government units) as well as talked about her experience as mayor of Davao City.

The presidential daughter was transitioning to another topic when she saw her running mate sitting cross-legged in the crowd just a few meters away from her.

My running mate is here. I hope sir you missed me as much as I missed you,” Mayor Sara said of Bongbong.

Mayor Sara’s line caused some in the audience to cheer as if they’re in the presence of a showbiz “love team”.

What Mayor Sara actually wanted to do was turn the people’s attention to the “UniTeam” ticket, which she and her running mate lead. It’s the campaign season after all, thus, Mayor Sara did a roll call of UniTeam’s senatorial slate.

After that, Mayor Sara expresed her appreciation to the League of Municipalities of the Philippines for allowing her and her running mate to “advertise” their ticket.

Nagpapasalamat po ako sa League of Municipalities of the Philippines for allowing and advertising the standing of Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte dito po sa harap ng ating stage,” Mayor Sara said.

Mayor Sara and Bongbong are both married. Both of them last appeared on stage together during an Iloilo rally on February 24.

Last Monday, Lakas-CMD President and House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez said that the tandem would campaign together more often in the coming days.
