The company’s plans for its first special event were first reported by Bloomberg at the beginning of February this year.

Apple has now made the said event an official with invites being sent to members of the press. This marks the 2nd year in a row that the company has held its spring event virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The said event will kick off at 10:00 am PST on March 8 (2:00 am on March 9 in the Philippines) and will be live-streamed across Apple’s website, Apple’s YouTube channel, and directly in the Apple TV app on iPad, iPhone, Apple TV, and Mac.

The company has also added a new “hashflag” icon to Twitter when users tweet something using the official #AppleEvent hashtag.

A “hashflag” is an icon displayed next to some special hashtags on the microblogging site. This time, Apple’s new “hashflag” shows the Apple logo with the colors used in the event invitation.

Apple’s new “hashflag”, based on a report on 9to5Mac, will be live on Twitter until March 11.

The special icon included in the text of the tweets isn’t animated, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if there’s an animation for the “like” button saved for the event day.

The company is also rumored to announce the new iPad Air 5 with 5G network support and A15 chip, as well as new Macs with Apple Silicon chip.
