Ong is popular online because of the health and medical tips he shared through his Facebook page (with 16 million followers) and YouTube channel (with 6.5 million subscribers).

In the 2019 elections, he ran for senator under Lakas–Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) but failed to secure a spot in the Senate.

This year, he will run for the second-highest position in the government.

He and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, who’s running for president, will go against the tandem of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Senator Manny Pacquiao and Buhay Partylist Representative Lito Atienza, as well as Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.

Recently, the Isko-Ong tandem went to Bataan for a motorcade as part of their campaign.

He was onboard the float when he lost his balance as he was about to alight.

Apparently, he sustained a minor injury from the minimal accident.

“Bababa kasi ako e hindi ko natantiya yung bilis. Nahiya kasi ako magsabi sa driver na bagalan,” he said.

According to Doc Willie Ong, he experienced muscle strain on his left forearm after the accident.

Doc Liza, his wife, and three others, also tumbled right inside the float. Fortunately, they did not suffer any injury.
