Following their wedding commitment ceremony in Las Vegas, Vice and Ion were hoping to hold a symbolic gathering with their friends and family in the Philippines to celebrate their love.

The couple exchanged vows in October 2021 and belatedly announced via Vice Ganda’s February 13 vlog. Their “wedding” was celebrated on “It’s Showtime” on Wednesday, with their co-hosts giving them tearful well-wishes.

Vice revealed that he and Ion were engaged as early as February 21, 2020, but were uncertain how they would go about being formally wedded.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, no existing law recognized same-sex marriage or union in the Philippines.

When Vice held a concert in Las Vegas in October, the celebrity couple took it also as an opportunity to finally realize their dream of exchanging vows for each other.

According to Vice, while the ceremony in Las Vegas didn’t have any legal bearing in the Philippines, it’s no less significant for him and his partner as it’s the ultimate “celebration of love” not only between the two of them but also from those who have supported them.

Acknowledging that same-sex unions weren’t yet recognized in the Philippines, Vice told Ion that they will continue celebrating their love for the two of them and for the people who love them.

Vice then thanked his friends and supporters who have been joining their celebration through greetings online by making their Las Vegas ceremony a trending topic early this week.
