To recall, a total of 11,378 BAR examinees took the examinations on Friday morning at 31 testing sites scattered in 22 LGUs (local government units) across the country — good for a 96.5 percent turnout in the 1st digital and localized test in the BAR examination’s history.

In Supreme Court’s BAR Bulletin No. 39, s. 2022, Associate Justice Marivic Leonen said that his office received reports of BAR examinees who committed a number of violations of published policies including the following: smuggling mobile phones inside the examination rooms; accessing social media during their lunch break inside the premises; and entering local testing centers without disclosing that they previously tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

I take my constant message of honor to the examinees seriously,” Leonen wrote. “I owe it not only to those who risked their lives just to make the [examination] happen despite all odds, but most especially to those examinees who could have taken the [exam] were it not for their positive COVID-19 test results.

Leonen, who was the BAR Examinations Chairperson, said in the advisory that disqualifications applied only for the 2020-21 BAR Examinations. He did not disclose how many were disqualified.

Also, Leonen urged the approximately 219 BAR examinees who couldn’t take the BAR exam after testing positive for COVID-19 to “not lose hope”.

The Honor Code for BAR exam takers declared that examinees must not do “any act that can be construed as cheating or dishonesty” by the Supreme Court or by the BAR Chairperson.

BAR exam takers under the code committed to voluntarily isolate or quarantine themselves, to strictly follow all health protocols within the period required by the BAR Chairperson, and not to infect others with the virus causing this pandemic”.

The figure was based on SC-administered antigen tests and BAR examinees who personally disclosed their status to Leonen’s office.

  1. Simple lang naman ang kailangan gawin upon entering the test-sites. Plain white t-shirts, jogging pants(walang bulsa). Body-scanning machines. CCTV’s,apprehension’s on the spot if caught for violations( celfones, gadgets, any written KODIGO’s. Lifetime ban on taking the Bar Exams. To instill utmost discipline to them.Always remember that this an exam for future LAWYER’s of the Land. If they commit violations now, what more if the are already LAWYER’S? A recipe for CORRUPTION’S in the future…
