The senatorial slot is one of the coveted positions during the national elections

This year, out of hundreds who filed their Certificate of Candidacy (COC) only 12 will be elected.

Among those who are rooting a senatorial slot in the coming elections are ordinary citizens to elite individuals as well as prominent personalities.

One of the hopefuls in the senatorial polls is no less than former Vice President Jejomar Binay.

Prior to serving as the 13th Vice President of the Philippines under President Benigno Aquino III, he was a longtime mayor of Makita City.

This time, he’s rooting for a Senate slot.

On Tuesday, February 8, he went to Batangas wherein he launched his candidacy, just three months before the May 9 national and local elections.

The former vice president is running under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) where he also serves as party chairman.

However, not everyone is happy with his senatorial bid.

Recently, actor-politician Edu Manzano took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter wherein he declared that he will not vote for Binay.

According to him, they worked for threes and saw it all. He warned that he will post COA documents soon.

In another tweet, Edu claimed that Binay lost during his congressional run in the first district of Makati in 2019 because “corruption hounded his candidacy.”

His statement irked the daughter of Binay.

Senator Nancy took to Twitter wherein she defended her father against claims of Manzano.
