P-pop kings and the Japanese singer-actor turn their viral SUMMER SONIC moment into an official track
SB19 – The P-pop powerhouse has taken its signature hit to a new level, releasing “GENTO feat. Kento Nakajima,” a collaboration with the Japanese singer-actor, on all digital music platforms worldwide on Friday, October 30, 2026, via Sony Music Entertainment.
The release comes more than two months after SB19 and Nakajima first performed the song together at SUMMER SONIC 2026 in Tokyo on August 15. Their joint performance sent the festival crowd into a frenzy and quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the event among Filipino and Japanese fans.
“Gento” is SB19’s signature song and its most-streamed solo track in Japan, making the Japan collaboration a natural next step for the group of Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken and Justin.
The idea did not start on a festival stage. It grew out of the “GENTO with Kento Nakajima” TikTok project, filmed during SB19’s visit to Japan last year. The clip became a hit on social media, and the buzz eventually led both camps to produce an official collaboration track.
The new version features special lyrics partly written by Nakajima himself. It keeps the song’s original themes of success, hard work and proving your worth, while adding a fresh side of the Japanese star.
“We’re truly happy to have collaborated with Kento,” SB19 said in a statement released for the launch.
“This collaboration has also reminded us of the power of music. It has been a while since we released ‘GENTO,’ but its message, its musicality, and its goal of changing people’s lives through the beat have not faded at all, and they continue to reach many hearts,” the group added.
For SB19, Nakajima was the perfect partner, and not only because of the obvious wordplay between his first name and the song title.
“We met him last year and reunited at SUMMER SONIC. Through those experiences, we saw how naturally he connects with people and embodies the energy and message that ‘GENTO’ stands for,” the group said.
Nakajima, for his part, had nothing but praise for his Filipino collaborators and the fans who waited for the track.
“Since the SUMMER SONIC performance, music fans in general, not just fans of the two acts, have been eagerly waiting for the release. With today’s launch, this historic collaboration goes beyond the excitement of the venue and reaches fans around the world,” he said.
The team-up has been described as a historic crossover between the Philippine and Japanese music scenes. It adds to SB19’s growing presence overseas as the group continues to push P-pop to international audiences.
