QC is known as the Philippines’ City of Stars.

Recently, Roosevelt Avenue in Quezon City was replaced with Fernando Poe Jr. Avenue in honor of the so-called “Da King” of Philippine cinema.

Because of this, the press asked Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte if there is a possibility of naming one of the streets in the city after Superstar Nora Aunor.

Mayor Joy was the one who presided over the oath-taking ceremonies of the new set of officers and board directors of the Philippine Movie Press Club held last Wednesday night, February 9, 2022, at Annabel’s restaurant on Tomas Morato Avenue, Quezon City.

When asked about it, she responded with a query: “Taga-Quezon City po ba si Ms. Nora Aunor?”

Dubbed as the Superstar, Nora Aunor is a Bicolana who was born and raised in Iriga, Camarines Sur. Currently, she lives in Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

But according to Mayor Joy, they are open to the possibility of naming one of their streets after the award-winning actress.

Apparently, only the name of a deceased person can be used in naming a street in particular.

“So, by me, si Nora Aunor is most welcome. Pero kailangan, patay muna siya. Yun yun,” she said.

But she clarified: “Hindi po puwedeng magpangalan ng isang kalsada o gusali after someone while they are still alive.”

Meanwhile, Nora is known as Philippine cinema’s “Superstar” and is regarded as the People’s National Artist.
