Cabinet Secretary and acting Presidential Spokesperson Karlo Nograles said in an interview on One News that President Duterte didn’t experience adverse effects after getting a Sinopharm booster shot even if there’s no data yet showing that the said vaccine brand was an appropriate booster shot.

Wala naman poing masamang epekto kay President Duterte [ang Sinopharm] sa pagkakaalam namin,” Nograles said.

Nograles made the response when he was asked to elaborate why Sinopharm booster shot was administered to the President even if the country’s vaccine experts panel has yet to recommend Sinopharm as booster because of lack of data both from abroad and the manufacturer of the Chinese vaccine.

According to Nograles, the COVID-19 vaccine given to President Duterte, including his primary dose of two-dose Sinopharm vaccine, was between him and his personal physician.

However, he couldn’t say the timeline on when the Philippines’ vaccine experts panel would release their recommendation on what would be the appropriate booster shot for Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine which was also administered to the public.

Nograles said that the vaccine experts panel were in touch with the Sinopharm manufacturers for the data so that the proper recommendation for its booster shot can be issued as soon as possible.

Earlier, Nograles disclosed that the President already got his Sinopharm booster shot.

Sa declaration niya kagabi sa Talk to the People, it appears na nakapag-booster na si Pangulo at Sinopharm ang nagamit,” Nograles said last January 7.
