On Wednesday, the senator said that Cusi, who led one of the factions in the ruling party, had a lot of “vested interest” in PDP-Laban.

The “infighting” within the ruling party has resulted in the formation of two factions — one faction led by Cusi and President Rodrigo Duterte, and the other faction led by Pacquiao and Senator Koko Pimentel.

In an interview with Teleradyo, Pacquiao was asked if President Duterte was the reason for the “infighting” within the ruling party.

Ang dahilan dyan ay si Cusi,” Pacquiao said. “Siya ang may nakikita natin maraming vested interest dyan. Kalaunan, iniwanan din nila ang partido, wala tuloy tumakbo ng presidente sa partido PDP.

The “infighting” within the ruling party has reached the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) as both factions awaited the declaration that their group was the “legitimate” side of the ruling party.

As fate of both factions before the poll body remained uncertain, their standard-bearers opted to file their certificate of candidacy (COC) under another political party.

Pacquiao filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for president under the Progressive Movement for the Devolution of Initiative (Promdi), while Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go filed his COC for president under PDDS (Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan) party.

Later on, Go announced his withdrawal from the presidential race.
