GSIS To Release Christmas Cash Gift To Pensioners Starting December 6

GSIS will release the Christmas Cash Gift to pensioners starting December 6.

GSIS — The Government Service Insurance System will release the Christmas Cash Gift amounting to a total of PHP 3.2 billion to pensioners starting December 6.

GSIS President and General Manager Rolando Ledesma Macasaet said that they still wished to provide a happy and comfortable Christmas to retirees amidst the pandemic.

Amid the challenges we’re facing due to the pandemic, we still wish to provide a happy and comfortable Christmas to our retirees,” Macasaet said in Filipino. “That’s why the GSIS Board has ensured early e-crediting of Christmas cash gift on their Unified Multi-Purpose ID (UMID) cards or eCards.

Manila Bulletin reported that for pensioners who received more than PHP 10,000 in cash gifts last year, they’ll be granted an amount equivalent to a one-month current pension but not exceeding PHP 12,600.

For pensioners who received PHP 10,000 and below last year, they will receive a cash gift equivalent to a one-month current pension up to a maximum of PHP 10,000.

Those pensioners who resumed their regular monthly pensions after December 31, 2020, will be given an amount equivalent to a one-month current pension up to PHP 10,000.

Qualified pensioners to receive the cash gift are the following:

  • old-age or disability pensioners who are living as of Nov. 30, 2021
  • retired under Republic Act No. 8291 (GSIS Act of 1997), Republic Act No. 660 (Magic 87), and Presidential Decree No. 1146.

Manila Bulletin also reported that pensioners who were on suspended status because of non-compliance with APIR (Annual Pensioners Information Revalidation) will be eligible to the cash gift provided that they will activate their status on or before the 30th of April 2022.

Dependent pensioners under RA 7699, survivorship pensioners, and pensioners receiving pro-rata pension weren’t eligible for the Christmas Gift.

In addition, retirees from 2017-2021 who availed of immediate pension under RA 8291 will receive their 1st annual Christmas Cash Gift give years after their date of retirement.

According to a report, retirees who availed of the five-year sum will be entitled to the benefit after the five-year guaranteed period or once they started receiving their monthly pension.

GSIS members who were separated from service from 2006-2021 before reaching the age of 60 years old and pensioners who started receiving their regular monthly pension between 2017 and 2021 will be entitled to the annual cash gift once they have been regular pensioners for at least 5 years.
