The President spent roughly an hour at a mall in Masinag, Antipolo City, Rizal on Monday afternoon where the local launch of the three-day “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” national vaccination campaign was held.

At that time, the President expressed confidence that the Philippines will be able to overcome the pandemic and to come out as a stronger nation despite the threat of the new highly mutated Omicron variant.

President Duterte encouraged the public to continue following health protocols such as wearing face masks, physical distancing, and washing of hands in order to prevent the spread of the virus.

I call on every Filipino for your continued cooperation in fighting against COVID-19 by getting vaccinated and continuing to follow our minimum public health standards,” the President said. “It is very important to us to take a whole-of-nation approach to win against coronavirus that has sorely plagued our country for almost two years.

President Duterte also thanked national government agencies and local government units (LGUs) along with private partners for coming up with the nationwide vaccination campaign.

After delivering his speech, the President went down to the crowd and was handed several milktea cups by his close-in staff.

Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, who helped the President distribute the beverage, was heard saying “Mayor, ako naman ang taya” during the Facebook live feed.

This wasn’t just a throwaway line from the senator. In fact, it’s a reference to a “request” made by the President in this ad on Facebook.

Salamat sa pagbabakuna. You protect the country and…ang tao,” President Duterte told an elderly woman who was treated to a milktea.

At least 5 milktea cups were given away to participants on camera. However, the Manila Bulletin was told by its source that 30 orders were made from the particular milktea branch. The President left the venue afterward.
