The Arroceros Forest Park is a riverside park in Manila located on Antonio Villegas Street in the central district of Ermita.

Dubbed as “Manila’s last lung,” the 2.2-hectare urban forest on the south bank of the Pasig River, at the foot of Quezon Bridge was developed in 1993.

The park is administered by the City Government of Manila in partnership with a private environmental group called Winner Foundation.

But Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso was slammed by two netizens over cutting down trees at the Arroceros Forest Park, allegedly without a permit from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

Twitter user @AkoSiTitoMarco took to the micro-blogging site wherein he questioned the presidential candidate about what happened to Arroceros.

“Ganito ba ang sinasabi niyong uri ng pamumuno na ibig niyong dalhin sa buong bansa?” he asked.

In his tweet, he shared some screenshots of Chiqui Sy-Quia Mabanta’s post who earlier claimed that many trees were cut down in the area without a permit from DENR.

According to her, her group called Save Arroceros Movement met at the park earlier to see how Manila city hall’s plans were developing, but they were surprised after seeing the now “forest-themed park.”

She was saddened that there was no consultation between their party and the city government of Manila.

Isko, who will run for president in the 2022 elections, has yet to issue any statement with regards to the claims of @AkoSiTitoMarco and Chiqui Sy-Quia Mabanta.
