Roque has officially resigned from his post, as well as the spokesperson of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), to run for senator in the 2022 elections with the endorsement of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

He announced his resignation as he confirmed that Monday’s Presidential press briefing will be his last since he’ll be filing his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator before the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in the afternoon.

According to him, he’s happy that they accomplished their mission and he will leave his job as a spokesperson better than how he came upon it.

He likewise said that he pursued his Senate bid because he needed to stand by his word as Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte already filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for vice president in the 2022 elections.

Roque also said that he has already informed President Rodrigo Duterte and Mayor Sara of his decision to run for senator in the 2022 elections.

He ended the Presidential press briefing with a video message from Mayor Sara’s endorsement of his Senate run.

As of this writing, Harry Roque was on his way to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) office.
