Desperate Dad Invents Medicine to Treat Dying Son with Rare Genetic Condition

A desperate dad is trying to form and develop a medicine to treat or cure his dying son diagnosed with a rare genetic condition.

A Chinese man named Xu Wei formed a home laboratory to form a remedy for his son diagnosed with Menkes Syndrome, a genetic disorder that impacts how copper is processed in the body.

Copper is crucial for brain and nervous system development. The individuals beyond the age of three diagnosed with Menkes Syndrome rarely survived because he only medicine for the disease cannot be found in China.

Currently, the borders were closed and the Chinese dad could not do anything for his son. He decided to research about pharmaceuticals. His family and friend opposed his activity but he is determine to make a remedy for his boy

“I didn’t really have time to think about whether to do it or not. It had to be done, My friends and family were against it. They said it was impossible,” Wei said.

Xu set up a laboratory in his father’s gym and download online documents on Menkes Syndrome and learned that copper histidine could help to ease his son’s suffering. He mixed mixing copper chloride dihydrate with histidine, sodium hydroxide and water.

After forming the solution, he is giving his son with the homemade medicine everyday. According to an amateur chemist, a few of the blood tests returned to normal two weeks after the treatment started.

However, Xu admitted that the solution is not a cure and accepted the fact that it can only slow down the disease.
