Recently, he went to the social networking site, Facebook wherein he announced his senatorial bid.

His post was accompanied by the caption: “I am so honored to run as Senator under the slate of our next President.”

It would be recalled that Trillanes had a plan to run for president if Robredo did not pursue running the highest post in the government.

Antonio Fuentes Trillanes IV is a retired Philippine Navy officer who served as a senator of the Philippines from 2007 to 2019.

He is known for his involvement in the Oakwood mutiny in 2003 and the Manila Peninsula siege in 2007 in protest against the Arroyo administration.

He ran for vice president in the 2016 national elections but lost to then Camarines Sur representative Leni Robredo.

Trillanes is also an avid critic of the Duterte administration.

In February 2020, Trillanes launched his vlog TRx: Trillanes Explains, where he discusses pressing issues and releases exposés coursed through his social media accounts.
