Mistaken as a shoplifter? Super Tekla shares incident

SUPER TEKLA – The Kapuso comedian and TBATS host recounted his recent experience at a convenience store when he was blocked on his way out after he was mistaken as a shoplifter.

Tekla said that after he paid the cashier for the item he purchased, he was about to leave when the guard suddenly stopped him.

According to him, he was shocked when the guard told him to stop. Even though he didn’t want to, Tekla agreed to a search but no product was found on him.

The cashier who knew Tekla defended him.

Tekla explained that he wanted to buy a product but he did not take it. It is possible that the person who saw the CCTV thought he had taken something because he put his hand in his pocket.

The comedian revealed that it was a roll-on that he was supposed to take.

“Ha? Ni maligo ‘di ko kayang gawin deodorant pa kaya,” he quipped.

Super Tekla admitted that he was slightly hurt by what happened.

Tekla just laughed because he didn’t think that his joke on television that he was often mistaken for a thief because of his appearance would come true.

“Nagkatotoo. Sabi ko, para akong binalikan nung mga jokes ko,” said Tekla, who no longer complained because he did not want the employee to lose his job.

Super Tekla whose real name is Romeo Librada started as a singer and stand-up comedian.

In 2016, he joined Wowowin hosted by Willie Revillame and Kuya Wil saw potential in him and hired him as one of his co-hosts.

But a year after he was fired by Kuya Wil due to his alcoholic and gambling vices, which he denied. In 2020, he was once welcomed again by Wowowin after guesting.

He is currently hosting the comedy talk show “The Boobay and Tekla Show” along with comedian Boobay.
