President Duterte was too busy to hold his second “Talk to the People” briefing this week, according to Malacañang.
On Thursday, Malacañang said that President Rodrigo Duterte was too busy to hold his second “Talk to the People” public briefing this week.
This was bared by Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque during the Presidential press briefing Thursday, October 21.
According to the Palace spokesman, there’s no more “Talk to the People” scheduled for this week because the Chief Executive had a lot of activities this week.
This will have been the 2nd consecutive week that the President conducted just one of his “Talk to the People” briefings. It was only last September when the President said that Malacañang would be conducting the “Talk to the People” briefings twice a week.
“Wala na pong schedule for this week [na Talk to the People] dahil marami activities po ang Presidente for this week,” Roque said.

The “Talk to the People” public briefing had been an important venue for President Duterte in updating the public about the progress of important government projects.
President Duterte has also used the public briefing to respond to issues of alleged corruption in government, particularly on the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee’s ongoing probe on the state’s procurement of pandemic supplies last year.
This had led to the President’s launching of tirades against Blue Ribbon committee chairman Senator Richard Gordon, who was also the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) chairman.
In the “Talk to the People” briefing aired late Tuesday night, the President said that he wanted the Office of the Ombudsman to take cognizance of Senator Gordon’s alleged failure to pay the PHP 86 million he owed to the government.
President Duterte was the chairman of the ruling Cusi-led Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), which like other political parties were busy preparing for the 2022 elections.
