Since candidates filed their Certificate of Candidacy for the 2022 elections, it has become a hot topic as different personalities expressed their willingness to serve the country.

At least 9 presidential candidates will face off in the coming polls of which eight (8) are men (Senator Ping Lacson, Senator Manny Pacquiao, former Senator Bongbong Marcos, Senator Bato dela Rosa, Mayor Isko Moreno, former presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella, former National Defense Secretary Norberto Gonzales, and labor leader Leody de Guzman) and lone woman (Vice President Leni Robredo).

Apparently, no member of the LGBTQ community filed candidacy for the highest post in the government.

When Mark Anthony Fernandez was asked, he said he’s not in favor of having a gay president for the country.

“Hindi ako papayag. [Kung] Mayor, puwede. Vice mayor, puwede. Pero to lead the army, the police, ako hindi [papayag] bilang botante,” he stressed.

“Mayor, puwede katulad ni Teri Onor,” he said while citing the gay comedian and former vice mayor of Abucay, Bataan who’s running for the said position in the May 9, 2022 elections.

Like his Barumbadings co-star Jeric Raval, Mark Anthony Fernandez clarified that he has nothing against gays. In fact, he has a lot of friends who are members of the LGBTQ community.

Meanwhile, Mark is currently gearing up for his upcoming projects. Incidentally, he revealed that there is a possibility for his reunion movie with ex-girlfriend Claudine Barretto titled Deception to be included in the December 2021 Metro Manila Film Festival.
