Many showbiz personalities are trying their luck in the upcoming elections. One of their primary reasons for venturing into politics is to expand their platform in helping others.

Among those who recently filed their Certificate of Candidacy (COC) before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) are Bobby Andrews, Angelu de Leon, Raffy Tulfo, Ejay Falcon and to name a few.

Adding to the list of celebrities-turned-election hopefuls is no less than action star Robin Padilla.

It was on Friday when Robin filed his COC under the PDP-Laban faction led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi.

He is hoping to secure a senatorial slot in the 2022 elections. However, his candidacy was swirled with criticisms.

To defend him against his critics, his wife Mariel Padilla took to the image-sharing platform, Instagram wherein she posted a photo of her husband accompanied by a caption addressed to his bashers.

Mariel stressed that her husband is “not hungry for money or power.
