Maltreated OFW Faints in Airport While Seeking Help & Got Robbed by Fellow Filipinos
A maltreated OFW fainted at the airport while seeking for help. and got robbed by her fellow migrant workers at the quarantine hotel.
A female Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) identified as Maribel Cantillo complained against her employer for allegedly maltreating her. She did not also receive a proper compensation from her Kuwaiti employer.
Cantillo is working as a domestic helper in Kuwait for two years. She was not able to take even a day off from work and did not even receive her full salary for two months despite her hard work.
The Pinay OFW just received 50 Dinars or just about P8,000, which is supposedly 260 Kuwait Dinars or more than P43,000. She did not even receive food from her employers two days before her flight.
“Marami po akong ano sa kanya. Mayroon ‘yung itinulak niya ako sa hagdan buti po nasalo ako. Mayroon ‘yung sabuyan ka ng tubig. Marami po akong ano doon pero hindi po ako nagsalita. Tiniis ko lang po,” Cantillo said.
Unfortunately, the domestic helper fainted during her stopover in Dubai due to hunger and exhaustion. She has been also robbed by her fellow OFWs during her quarantine at a hotel in Manila.
The OFW said that her compatriots stole the cash assistance she received from fellow Filipinos in the airport. She immediately reported the incident to the police authorities. The repatriated OFW has also expressed her gratitude towards her fellow OFWs for helping her to go home safely.
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Hans Cacdac assured the public that Cantillo will receive help from the agency.
