Last week, the labor leader filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) as he vies for the highest position in the government in the 2022 elections.

He will go against popular presidential aspirants; Vice President Leni Robredo, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, senators Manny Pacquiao, Ping Lacson and Bato dela Rosa.

Recently, Ka Leody disclosed the senatorial candidates in his slate.

According to him, among the senatorial aspirants under his slate are; Luke Espiritu, Roy Cabonegro, David D’angelo, Chel Diokno, Senadora Risa Hontiveros, Neri Colmenares, Bong Labog, Sonny Matula and Leila de Lima.

The aforementioned lineup consists of environmentalists, labor leaders, human rights lawyers, and reelectionist senators.

Ka Leody clarified that such individuals have no obligation to help his campaign but he only presented the lineup because he is confident in their ability to serve the people.

“Narito ang aking personal na mungkahi. Wala silang obligasyong dalhin ang aking kandidatura. Hindi ito transactional politics. Nagtitiwala ako sa kanilang hangarin para sa bayan,” he said.

Ka Leody De Guzman is the standard-bearer of the Lakas ng Masa Party and will run for the presidency even if he only finishes 38th in the 2019 senatorial elections.

Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections will post a tentative list of candidates on October 29.

On the other hand, the campaign period for nationally-elected positions will kick off on February 8, 2022, until May 7, 2022. The nationwide elections are scheduled to be held on May 9.
