Johnny Manahan revealed what qualities he’s looking for in aspiring artists.
GMA Artist Center consultant Johnny Manahan, also known as “Mr. M”, recently revealed what qualities he’s looking for in aspiring artists.
In an episode of The Howie Severino Podcast, Manahan admitted that he’s only using his gut feeling when eyeing potential superstars at the start of his career.
“Nung una tsamba, e. Tsamba tsamba. It’s a gut feel, and even people who can’t, who didn’t sing or didn’t dance but you figure they have something in them. It’s the X factor. Sometimes you look at them, alam mo na kaagad, e. Hindi mo na kailangang testing-in sa mga workshop. You just know these people have it,” Manahan said.
Having good looks was already a plus point during auditions, saying that there’s a “classification system” in mind “but you wanna validate it so you send them to the workshops”.

Manahan still asked aspiring artists to think twice or even thrice before entering the show business. He said in his Kapuso Profiles interview that aspiring stars should have to think about it really well, whether they wanted to be in showbiz.
“I think they have to think about it really well, whether they want to be in this business, in show business. Mahirap ito, e,” Manahan said.
According to him, a lot of people were thinking that it’s all about the glitz and glamor, but when aspiring stars entered the show business, many will criticize them.
Moreover, he said that he’s thinking that there were “more slings and arrows” than praises in showbiz.
