Johnny Manahan signs contract with GMA-7

Star maker Johnny Manahan also known as Mr. M is now officially a Kapuso.

On Tuesday, July 13, 2021, Mr. M signed a contract with the Kapuso network as a consultant to the GMA Artist Center.

Among those who were present in the virtual contract signing are executives of Kapuso network such as GMA Network Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon; President and COO Gilberto Duavit, Jr.; and Executive Vice President and CFO Felipe S. Yalong.

Mr. M is a former Kapuso who started his career as a singer via Uncle Bob’s Show in the 1970s.

As a freelance director, some of the projects he made under GMA-7 are the following; Two For The Road and Late Hour with June and Johnny.

In 1986, Johnny Manahan became an exclusive worker of ABS-CBN as director.

Then, he and former ABS-CBN general manager Freddie M. Garcia, launched Star Magic, the talent-management arm of the Kapamilya network.

Star Magic has made many ABS-CBN artists famous, including Claudine Barretto, Piolo Pascual, Jericho Rosales, John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, Maja Salvador, Kristine Hermosa, Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, and many more.

In September 2020, Mr. M decided to leave the Kapamilya network.

Mr. M moved to Brightlight Productions as director of Sunday Noontime Live on TV5, but the program only lasted one season.

After his contract signing, a virtual media conference was held for Mr. M where he shared some of his plans for the GMA Artist Center.
