In his 50 years in the entertainment industry, he has been known for being a star builder, producer, and director, particularly in the grounds of ABS-CBN.

He spent roughly “35 or 40” years on shaping ABS-CBN’s famous and best actors.

He was also able to witness the “two beginnings” and “two closures” of the network.

One is during the Martial Law of former President Ferdinand Marcos and the other is on July 10, 2020, when the network shut down after it failed to renew its franchise.

In the year 1987 when it was reopened after its first shutdown, Mr. Frederico “Freddie” M. Garcia, also known in the industry as FMG, helped to rebuild the network. FMG was executive vice president and general manager of the network at the time.

In 1992, Johnny Manahan and FMG collaborated in the development of the Talent Center, now known as Star Magic, ABS-CBN’s talent arm.

However, after a month since ABS-CBN had its second closure, many were shocked when Mr. M left the network.

At the same time, he was announced to direct Sunday Noontime Live, the blocktimer Sunday musical-variety show that aired on TV5 from October 18, 2020 to January 17, 2021.

Meanwhile, Johnny Manahan divulged in an interview the reason why he left the Kapamilya Network.

According to Mr. M, a major impetus for his resignation was the construction of a “shadow talent center” separate from Star Magic.

Mr. M and the staff of Star Magic are gradually losing their pool of talents because of this.

Johnny Manahan cited at one point how Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) jumped into managing the career of its ex-housemates which is supposed to be the work of Star Magic.
