Bongbong Marcos, Bong Go On “Bongbong-Bong” Tandem

Bongbong Marcos and Bong Go on “Bongbong-Bong” tandem

Former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go responded to reports circulating that a “Bongbong-Bong” tandem for the presidency and vice presidency in the 2022 elections was possible.

Go filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for vice president under the Cusi-led Partido Demokratikong Pilipino (PDP)-Laban party last October 2, 2021.

Marcos, on the other hand, filed his certificate of candidacy for president under Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) last October 6.

On Wednesday, Marcos revealed that he wanted to forge an alliance with President Rodrigo Duterte to be his vice president in the 2022 elections, but added that he’s open to a possible “Bongbong-Bong” tandem with Go.

Paano ‘yun? Bongbong-Bong? Bong to the third power? Baka pwede din, we’ll see,” Marcos said.

According to Marcos, he wanted to “adopt” President Duterte as his running mate because they came from different political parties.

However, it didn’t push through because President Duterte surprised the public when he withdrew his plan to run as vice president and announced that he will retire from politics once his term ends.

The former senator didn’t have a vice president for now, but a partnership with Senator Go wasn’t far-fetched.

Go, for his part, said that he has never chosen who would be his compatriot in serving the people and he will respect whoever would be chosen by the people as the President of the country.

Mula noon hanggang ngayon, walang pili naman po ang pagseserbisyo ko sa tao. Rerespetuhin ko kung sino ang ihahalal ng taumbayan sa pagka-pangulo,” Go said.
